Carara National Park

Located at 1 hour 15 minutes from San Jose and only 20 minutes from Jaco, this tour is one of the best for bird watching in Costa Rica.

Why are we the specialists for this tour? We have local guides with many years of experience and extensive knowledge. Our guide will lead you through wonderful and vibrant trails in this park where you will be able to appreciate the richness of Costa Rican flora and fauna.

This park is the only one in Central America that protects a transition forest between the dry zone to the north and the humid one to the south, which is very rich and varied in flora with more than 1,400 species of plants. This park has around 300 species of birds including the famous Red Macaw, the colorful toucans and in addition you can find 4 species of Manakin (Red Head, Corona Azul, Cola larga and the Orange Collar Manakin) and many more species of birds. We can also find several mammals including some species of monkeys such as the white-faced monkey, the howler monkey and the spider monkey.

In the Carara National Park our local guides will take you to admire the strange and wonderful White bats.

In this beautiful park there are two paths: The Aráceas Trail and the Meandrica Lagoon that are perfect to see the flora and the fauna.

Carara counts with a universal access path so that blind people, phisically challenged ( wheelchair or in walker ) can be mobilized easily and comfortably, complying with the law 7600.

During the dry season, Carara becomes an oasis of freshness and greenery. To the northeast of the park, the seasonal flooding of the Rio Grande de Tárcoles forms many wetlands. The largest of these areas is 600 meters long, 40 meters wide and is 2 meters deep. These wetlands become the habitat for waterfowl and wading birds, as well as many reptiles and amphibians.

Due to its location, after carrying out the tour in the Carara National Park it is very easy to access other tourist areas, such as beautiful beaches in the Central Pacific.
